Dr. StevenPhelps will present “The CosmicDance “The Unfolding of Consciousness in History ”
Steven Phelps received dualbachelors degrees in physics and philosophy from Stanford University and aPh.D. in physics from Princeton University, specializing in cosmology. Heserved at the Bahá’í World Center in Haifa, Israel for 13 years in its ResearchDepartment, where he coordinated the indexing and collation of the Bahá’íSacred Writings and their translation from Persian and Arabic into English.During that period, he concurrently held a research position in the PhysicsDepartment at the Technion University in Haifa and published original researchon the masses of nearby galaxies. He currently resides in the Portland areawith his wife and three daughters.

About the Bahá’í Calendar and Holy Days
The Baha’i Faith has its own calendar, called the Badí’ Calendar. It is a solar calendar consisting of 19 months of 19 days each (361 days), plus “Intercalary Days” (four in ordinary years and five in leap years) to adjust the calendar to the solar year. The days and months are named after the attributes of God. The Nineteen Day Feast, the primary community gathering for Baha’is in each town and city, is held on the first day of each Baha’i month. Eleven Holy Days mark significant events in Baha’i history.
