April 25-27.
Greetings from Jim and Jeannine
Dear Friends,
We send you our warmest greetings at this glorious Ridvan season. May your celebrations be filled with joy and attract abundant Divine Confirmations for your services to the Cause of Bahá’u’lláh.
We want to express our sincere thanks to our dearly-loved Saffron Moser, who will be leaving Green Acre at the end of April after two years of service as Registrar. She is getting married at Green Acre on May 10 to former Green Acre volunteer Nelson Ashberger. Our heartfelt congratulations and love go out to Saffron and Nelson as they begin their new life together.
We are delighted that in February and March, many children, junior youth, and youth have participated actively in learning and growing at Green Acre.
In February, for the second year in a row, 54 children were granted full scholarships for a special children's program. Pepper Oldziey put together a creative set of lesson plans for all age levels on the love of Baha'u'llah and the celebration of Ridvan. Highlight of the weekend were the Ridvan tents which each class put together and enjoyed thorougly. A lovely prayer recited by a 3-year-old in the Sunday morning devotional touched everyone's hearts. Reactions from participants: “Positive, very spiritual environment” and “the love was everywhere!”
In March, 39 non-Baha’is and 38 Baha’is were wholeheartedly engaged in a dynamic spiritual education process as the staffs of the Children’s Theatre Company and the Green Acre Baha’i School offered a children’s program focused on the “Oneness of Humankind” and an adult program on “Empowering the Human Spirit”. The junior youth and youth were so inspired again this year that they wrote and performed another song about being happy at Green Acre. Its joyful refrain was “Green Acre brought us together”!
On April 2, our good friend and local Congregational minister David Avery brought three ministers from our York County for an introduction to the Baha’i Faith. They spent almost two hours asking questions about the Faith and then enjoyed the new DVD by Cyrus Parvani entitled the “Promise of World Peace.” Rev. Avery expressed in a thoughtful thank you note his desire to bring more of his colleagues to learn of the Baha’I Faith in the future!
As to upcoming events, we want to issue a special invitation to all Spanish-speaking Baha’is and their friends and family to attend the annual Latin American weekend on May 23-25. Every year this vibrant event has proven to be an excellent opportunity to build community with our Latino brothers and sisters and to offer them a unique experience in Baha’i education.
We joyously send you our love and our prayers this most glorious Springtime and look forward to seeing you again soon at Green Acre.
Jim and Jeannine
