Rainn Wilson on "Interfaith Voices" radio

Actor Rainn Wilson spoke recently on "Interfaith Voices," a nationally syndicated public radio program, about balancing his life of faith as a Baha'i with his acting career in Hollywood, where he has developed a penchant for playing loners, oddballs and weirdos.

Some highlights of his conversation with host Maureen Fiedler:

On growing up as a Baha'i: "I was the only Baha'i in my school... No one ever gave me a hard time about it."

On leaving the Baha'i Faith for a few years in his 20's: "I became disenchanted with the people of my Faith... I've since learned that people are imperfect. I believe that God's guidance is perfect and true and beautiful but people don't always follow it perfectly."

On rededicating himself to the Baha'i Faith as an adult: "I read all the world's great religious books...and I turned to the Baha'i books."

How being a Baha'i affects his acting career: "I've turned down many roles that I have found morally reprehensible."

Choices

I enjoyed this article and the example Rainn Wilson sets in making choices. In this day and age, with work options constantly getting fewer, it takes a lot of character to choose jobs based on moral principals. I admire Mr. Wilson for doing so and appreciate his setting an example for all of us, but especially the youth and younger-adults. Thank you! Peace from Washington!
