Scholarship and spirituality blend seamlessly at Baha'i conference
Michael Penn, a Baha'i and an associate professor of psychology at Franklin and Marshall College in Pennsylvania, was headed for the 31st Annual Conference of the ABS "Association for Baha'i Studies-North America" in Ontario, Canada, and found himself seated next to another scholar on the plane. |

Can you join the Baha'i Faith and continue your membership in another religion at the same time?
One may not be a Baha'i and also a member of another religious organization. This is simply a matter of straightforwardness and honesty. For example, a Baha'i couldn't belong to a Christian group that invariably exalts Jesus over all God's other Messengers, or which denounces one or more of Them, since that would be tantamount to denying the Oneness of God's Divine Messengers - a fundamental spiritual principle taught by Bah'u'llah.
Baha'is believe that all Divine Teachers come from one God and that every major religion has played an important part in God's plan for the progressive guidance of humanity. Thus, when you become a Baha'i, you do not give up your love for any one of God's past Manifestations. Indeed, Baha'is accord equal reverence to all of God's previous Messengers, including Abraham, Moses, Buddha, Krishna, Zoroaster, Christ, Muhammad and the Bab, as well as the Founder of the Baha'i Faith, Baha'u'llah. |
